& JULIET announces West End reopening plans
& Juliet have announced today that fans of the Shakespeare pop musical will have to wait a little longer before seeing the show once more, as the show has revealed plans to recommence performances on 24 September.
& Juliet first opened at London’s Shaftesbury Theatre in October 2019 after transferring its run at Manchester Opera House, and it features the music of Max Martin who produced a certain Britney Spears’ first hit. The production has a book by David West Read, with direction by Luke Sheppard with choreography by Jennifer Weber.
The show tells the story of “what if” Juliet hadn’t died at the end of Romeo & Juliet, and has received critical acclaim and six WhatsOnStage Awards. Pre-lockdown, Miriam-Teak Lee played Juliet, and was accompanied by Oliver Tompsett and Cassidy Janson as Shakespeare and his wife Anne Hathaway, along with David Bedella as Lance, Arun Blair-Mangat as May, Jordan Luke Gage as Romeo, Melanie La Barrie as Nurse and Tim Mahendran as Francois.
The ensemble was made up of Jocasta Almgill, Josh Baker, Ivan De Freitas, Rhian Duncan, Danielle Fiamanya, Kieran Lai, Nathan Lorainey-Dineen, Jaye Marshall, Grace Mouat, Antoine Murray-Straughan, Billy Nevers, Kerri Norville, Christopher Parkinson, Dillon Scott-Lewis, Kirstie Skivington, Alex Tranter and Sophie Usher.
