AMELIE THE MUSICAL heading into final weeks in West End - must end 25 September
Following its opening at the Watermill Theatre, a critically acclaimed sell-out tour in 2019, a highly successful Christmas season at The Other Palace in 2019, a Grammy nomination and 3 Olivier Award nominations, Amélie The Musical has only a few weeks left of its hugely successful West End season, and must finish on 25 September.
Seen by over 100,000 people now across the UK, the production has enjoyed huge critical and public acclaim, and the producers are planning future life for the show in the UK and internationally -with plans to be announced later this autumn.
Olivier-nominee Audrey Brisson created the role of ‘Amélie’ at The Watermill, and has remained with the show in all its incarnations since 2019.
Brisson said: “Amelie has been a real beacon of faith and hope to all of us who sometimes struggle to put ourselves out there amongst people. As we near the end of this run, I cannot help but feel lucky to have been part of this wonderful show as we reopened the West End. What better story to tell, now, than that of people learning how to reconnect with one another?”
Amélie secretly improvises small, but extraordinary acts of kindness discovering the possibilities around every corner and bringing happiness to those she encounters. When a chance at love comes her way, Amélie realises that to find her own contentment she’ll have to risk everything and say what’s in her heart. Experience this beautiful story and be inspired by this imaginative dreamer who discovers her voice, uncovers the power of human connection and sees possibility around every corner.
The five–time Oscar®-nominated film has been brought to life by a cast of actor-musicians and set to a critically acclaimed re-orchestrated score. With music by Hem’s Daniel Messé, lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Daniel Messé and a book by Craig Lucas, this musical adaptation is directed by Michael Fentiman.
The West End cast includes Sioned Saunders as ‘Gina’, Flora Spencer-Longhurst as ‘Georgette’/‘Sylvie’, Rachel Dawson as ‘Amandine’/‘Philomene’, Oliver Grant as ‘Lucien’/‘Mysterious Man’, Chris Jared as ‘Nino Quincampoix’, Caolan McCarthy as ‘Hippolito’/‘Elton John’, Samuel Morgan-Grahame as ‘Joseph’/‘Fluffy’, Kate Robson-Stuart as ‘Suzanne’, Jack Quarton as ‘Blind Beggar’, Jez Unwin as Raphael/Bretodeau, Johnson Willis as Collignon/Dufayel, Nuwan Hugh Perera as ‘Jean-Yves’, Miiya Alexandra as ‘Delphine’, Robyn Sinclair as ‘Cecile’ and Matthew James Hinchliffe as ‘Raymond’.
