All-star cast announced for THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY

Dorian Gray cast

The upcoming digital production of The Picture of Dorian Gray has today announced an all-star cast who will be joining the previously confirmed Fionn Whitehead in the titular role.

Joining Whitehead will be Joanna Lumley as Lady Narborough, Emma McDonald as Sybil Vane, Russell Tovey as Basil Hallward, Alfred Enoch as Harry Wootton, and Stephen Fry as The Interviewer.

The Picture of Dorian Gray is set to follow in the successful footsteps of What A Carve Up!, utilising and compiling different elements of radio plays, films, documentaries, along with traditional theatre techniques.

The Picture of Dorian Gray will also reunite the creative team behind What a Carve up!, with Henry Filloux-Bennett writing the new adaptation and Tamara Harvey offering direction.

Oscar Wilde’s Faustian tale is being bought into the 21st Century with profile-pic obsessed Dorian Gray making a deal for his social status to never fade.

Director Tamara Harvey said: “When trying to tell stories in Covid times, with very few resources and almost no time, the thing you need from your cast more even than talent is a spirit of collaboration, combined with patience, kindness and large doses of humour. Every member of our cast for Dorian Gray brought that and more. They are not only ridiculously talented but also – perhaps even more importantly – they’re all genuinely lovely people, which has made the making of this piece a joy.”

Joining the star studded cast behind the scenes will be Holly Piggot providing both set and costume design, assistant direction by Eleri Jones, and original music and sound design by Harry Smith. Benjamin Collins also joins as director of photography.

The production, which will run from 16-31 March, is being co-produced by the following theatres; The Barn Theatre in Cirencester, Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield, New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich, Oxford Playhouse in Oxfordshire and Theatr Clwyd in Mold.

Tickets are available here and are £12, which also includes a digital programme.
