A STRANGE LOOP to transfer to London’s Barbican Theatre from June 2023
The Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony Award-winning musical A Strange Loop will transfer to London’s Barbican Theatre from 17 June for twelve weeks only.
Set to a bouncy Broadway beat with vibrant songs and cutting lyrics, Michael R. Jackson’s razor-sharp musical is a quirky, comically entertaining metafictional piece about identity, race and sexuality.
Hell-bent on breaking free of his own self-perception, Usher, a young, gay, Black writer who hates his day job, writes a musical about a young, gay, Black writer who’s writing a musical about a young, gay, Black writer...a strange loop. Usher grapples with desires, identity and instincts he both loves and loathes, all brought to life on stage by a hilarious, straight-talking ensemble.
The creative team includes director Stephen Brackett, choreographer Raja Feather Kelly, music supervisor Rona Siddiqui, orchestrator Charlie Rosen, set designer Arnulfo Maldonado, costume designer Montana Levi Blanco, lighting designer Jen Schriever and sound designer Drew Levy.
Priority tickets are now on sale to Barbican Members and will go on general sale on 20 March 2023.
