A BUNCH OF AMATEURS comes to Frinton Summer Theatre

Laugh-out-loud comedy A Bunch of Amateurs about a fading Hollywood star, with plenty of Shakespeare and of course,amateur dramatics will play at Frinton Summer Theatre from 26-30 July.

Written by Ian Hislop & Nick Newman, and directed by John D Collins, the cast includes Nigel Barber as Jefferson, Sharon Eckman as Dorothy, Lara Leboff as Jessica, Elliot James as Nigel, Alice Redmond as Mary, Jamie Scott-Smith as Dennis, and Hannah Brackstone Brown as Lauren.

Keen to boost his flagging career, fading Hollywood action hero Jefferson Steele arrives in England to play King Lear in Stratford – only to find that this is not the birthplace of the Bard, but a sleepy Suffolk village. And instead of Kenneth Branagh and Dame Judi Dench, the cast are a bunch of amateurs trying to save their theatre from developers. Jefferson’s monstrous ego, vanity and insecurity are tested to the limit by the enthusiastic am-dram thespians.
