2020 Olivier Award winners to be revealed in special ITV programme this October

Olivier Awards 2020

The 2020 Olivier Award winners will now be revealed in a special programme to be broadcast this October on ITV. Originally scheduled for April, the ceremony will be adapted to television in a pre-recorded format and hosted by Jason Manford. The show will also include a variety of interviews and performances from all around London.

The main show will be shown on 25 October with additional awards being presented in a special pre-show on the Official London Theatre Youtube page beforehand. Winners and key moments will also be broadcast on Magic Radio between 8-10pm on the same night.

The news comes as the Society of London Theatre, who produce the awards, announced a plan to review award eligibility in the coming years. Any changes made will be aimed at ensuring diversity and inclusion within the industry. The ceremony for 2021 is also unlikely to go ahead given current theatre closures.

Julian Bird, CEO and Executive Producer of SOLT, said: “We are excited to be able to honour this year’s nominees and winners during a very difficult time for our industry and demonstrate the outstanding talent we have in our theatre sector in the UK.”

More details about guests and performances will be announced soon.
