1,200 seat theatre to open in Woolwich as part of new creative district

Woolwich Works

A new 1,200 seat theatre is set to open in Woolwich on 23 September, as part of London’s newest creative district.

Having been delated due to the pandemic, the multimillion-pound council-led project will create an events, training and education facility for the local community.

The theatre will seat 1,200 but will be able to accommodate 1,800 for standing events. There will also be a courtyard that can be used for performances, with five studios for rehearsals and shows, and a cafe/bar amongst other community spaces.

It will become the home of theatre company Punchdrunk, Chineke! Orchestra, National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Protein Dance Company, and the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
